A Blessing For Our Church Family

Adapted from Blessing Your Spirit by Gunter & Burk, p.73-76.

Brothers and Sisters of Christ, we bless you with being those who are sent to go

to people who lack peace, to take the peace that is within you and share it with them.

We bless you with an anointing in your spirit to bring good news to a wounded and broken people. We bless you with opportunities that come to you because of the healing that you have received, having been made whole, all the parts of your identity coming into completeness and harmony. We bless you with daily surrendering of your life to Jesus as your Lord,

allowing Him to be your master, governing you, protecting you, and allowing all other blessings

to become a reality for you as you trust Him completely with every part of your life.

We bless you in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, your Lord.

In Christ’s Amazing Grace,

Pastor Naomi

The upcoming season of the church is Lent. Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday. Sundays are not counted in the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. Lent this year will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 17 and end April 3 which is the day before Easter.

Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. It is a spiritual pilgrimage. During Lent, we can pray, fast, and self reflect. Just as Jesus spent time in the wilderness preparing for His ministry, may we spend time reflecting on sacrifices we can make, how we can “feed His sheep”, and how we can glorify God in all we do. May this be a time of healing, forgiveness, and growth in each of our lives.

Ash Wednesday Service

Feb. 17, 2010

Ash Wednesday is the seventh Wednesday before Easter Sunday. This begins our season of worship. This day is marked by the imposition of ashes (placing a mark of
a cross on your forehead), as a symbol of humility before God. It is a day of reflection on what needs to change in our lives if we are to be humble before the Lord.
